Portfolios Due

Today your portfolios are due. If submitting hard copies, you must turn in by the end of our class time. If submitting through Google Docs, make sure you have labeled all docs and collections clearly and make sure you have shared with me (dkeller25@gmail.com). Send me an email once your portfolio is ready to grade.

Class Locations for Finals Week

During finals week, the classroom meeting places are as follows:

Eng 101-029 TH Dec. 15 9:30-11:30 a.m. in MC Room 1410 (our normal Thurs. class)

Eng 101-032 TH Dec. 15 11:30-1:20 in MC Room 2463 (different room than normal)

Eng 101-034 T Dec. 13 11:30-1:20 in LA Room 1216 (different room than normal)

If you need to pick up graded work (portfolios and/or writing logs) or you need to talk with me about your grades and class, feel free to stop by during any of the above times.

Spring Eng 102 Course

If you would like to be in my Eng 102 class in Spring 2012, I am teaching one section: Eng 102-031, TTH 12:30-1:45 p.m. It is structured like the Eng 101 class--one day in the computer class, one day in a regular class. There are 20 seats available.

The required books for this class are the following:

Turabian, Kate L. Student's Guide to Writing College Papers
Pollan, Michael. In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto

Conferences Scheduled

One-on-one conferences with Denise are scheduled for Thurs., Oct. 20; Mon., Oct. 24; Tues., Oct. 25; and Thurs., Oct. 27. The schedule was passed around classes today (Tuesday) and it has also been posted on Google Docs and e-mailed to everyone.

Please review the schedule, double-checking your date, time and location. If you missed class today, review the open times and contact Denise (e-mail or phone call) to reserve your time. First come, first served with choices.

Furthermore, make sure to review the Conferences Preparation doc on Google Docs to know what to do before the conference and what to bring.

SWIC Scavenger Hunt

Please complete the SWIC Scavenger Hunt (part 1 of the Essay 3 assignment) before coming to class on Tuesday. This way we can discuss your findings and how to generate ideas for Essay 3. The Essay 3 Assignment is posted on Google Docs and I have distributed hard copies too.

Reminder

Our Eng 101 class will not meet on Tues., Sept. 20. I will be in a SWIC faculty and staff meeting.

If you want to use computers, Room 2462 will be an Open Lab from 7:30-1:45. Feel free to catch up on your Writing Logs or start your essay #2. On Thurs., Sept. 22, bring to class a draft, some notes, or other prewriting for essay #2.
